Back to Basics

I ran into the A.P.C. store during my last trip to NY and I was extremely impressed with their selection for one main reason: they have a beautiful selection of basics! "Basics"~ such a boring word sometimes and I think that's why I tend to ignore the basics when I walk into a store. I want to be wowed! But, in fact, I've learned through the years that they can be lifesavers and are such a necessity in any wardrobe.

The selection above are pieces that really stood out to me for the summer: nude strappy sandals, a bateau neckline top, a lightweight windbreaker, a roomy beach bag, a striped pullover, an easy belt and one of their extremely soft shoulder bags.

I'm going to take inventory of my wardrobe in the next few weeks to see what the missing pieces are...and hopefully fill in some spots with beautiful basics!!

On My Radar...

On my radar are these Vogue Gioiello covers. I can't believe I just discovered this magazine, given my love for jewelry and accessories....but, better late than never! The details are amazing. I can't wait to get my hands on an issue.

Pretty Petals...

These are real peonies. Not kidding. Now at Trader Joe's {at least in Southern California}. Just had to share them with you!

Chanel Fun in the Sun

Hello and Happy Tuesday! Hope you all had a great weekend. We had a nice weekend, which included finally recovering from colds {knock on wood!} and a BBQ at our place yesterday. Hamburgers are one of my favorite not so healthy dining options so I loved indulging yesterday.

On a completely different note...I thought I'd share the unique images from the Chanel 2012 editorial. They fit my mood perfectly this morning-- there is something about them that is unique and serious, while humorous at the same time. I like that balance in fashion. Appreciating it and enjoying it, while not taking it too seriously. Pretty amazing stretching, right? Kind of what needs to be done for this short week ahead...

Have a wonderful week!!

Is it Friday yet?

{The Saguaro in Palm Springs}

It's been one of those weeks. The cold has been knocking our family out, one person at a time and I'm pretty tired of being "sick and tired." Looking forward to getting maybe an hour or two of rest {I'm trying to be realistic!} and maybe I'll try to lay in the sun for some natural healing. I'm calling an early weekend!

I hope you have a fabulous long weekend...have fun, be safe and enjoy!

J. Crew Special

Have you gotten a chance to check out the latest J.Crew collaboration? Altuzarra for J.Crew has probably been one of my favorites. I love the French preppy chic look and the top above is my favorite piece. Perfect top for summer, wouldn't you agree?

I'm really looking forward to catching CNBC's special presentation of “J. Crew and the Man Who Dressed America” premiering on Thursday, May 24th at 10PM ET/PT.  The special will highlight J. Crew CEO Millard “Mickey” Drexler, dubbed “The King of Retail," who has taken J.Crew to new heights since 2003. But, more than than just fashion retail, Drexler even served on Apple's Board of Directors and acted as adviser to Steve Jobs when he was opening his first Apple store. I'm also excited to see behind the scenes footage~ like watching Drexler in Milan as he selects fabrics at a century-old clothing mill for the company’s high-end shirt collection. I love fashion documentaries in general, but this one should be extremely fascinating. Can't wait!
